This is the first and only place I have bought and lived in since I moved to KL. Over the years, I have done some renovation works. The view from the entrance shows a neat interior with carefully placed furniture and furnishings. The floor-to-ceiling mirrors conceal storage space. I have turned two bedrooms into a study room and a wardrobe closet. There is a built-in cabinet, covered in mirror, at the dining area. I have also turned half of the balcony into a part of the living room.
That is one of the smartest ways to expand your space. Black-and-white drapery with a bold floral pattern is matched with sheer white curtains, to not only shield the lounge from the harsh sunlight but as a decorative element. Note the view from the "compacted" balcony. Since I enjoy reading, I spend a lot of time in the study room. But my favourite spot is actually the living room, where I designed most of the furniture pieces. The position of the living room is slightly above the ground.
A quick tip. Therefore, less cost and hassle-free. The lounge has an elevated floor and a few well-chosen accents. The red table lamp functions as a feng shui element as well. I remember when I just started out in KL, I would ask some furniture shops to lend me their products and arrange them nicely at my then empty unit. I would take photographs and keep them as my portfolio.
As fate would have it, they were interested in me too. Casa Impian was your first TV show. How has the show changed your life? Casa Impian gave me the avenue to venture into show business. Well, since the first day I arrived in KL, I knew that creating public awareness about my expertise would be the way to go. Before my first TV stint, I actually went around asking for an opportunity to give a talk about ID with no fee whatsoever. Gradually, from speaking in seminars, I ventured into TV and other media.
I think I am a person who holds on to my Chinese roots despite the Western concepts that I embrace, in the way that I conduct my business.
The same goes for my home. There is an obvious Oriental touch among the strong presence of classic contemporary design. A grey and white palette with red as a highlight colour seems to work well for Eric's concept of a "modern, classical style. Changing an atmosphere of a space can be as simple as re-arranging the furniture. Therefore, you want furniture items that can be moved around easily. If you have limited space, use sliding doors to save space. The bedroom is designed for maximum impact as the vivid colour scheme will certainly grab anyone's attention.
Note the four cutesy, soft toys on the bedside table. Eric's bedroom is as colourful as his personality. Low ceilings are one of the most common problems in vertical residences.
Hanging a heavily decorated chandelier may not be wise. The portal leading to the kitchen is partially shielded by a wooden screen to hide the refrigerator. Note that the very latest in shelving systems from Maxima have been installed to give a more modern look to the space.
Eric hardly uses this bathroom as it is meant more for photo-shoots. Log In New to Star Property? Register an account. FAQ Help. Bookmarked Properties. Send Enquiries. Others See All. Bookmarked Articles See All. My Bookmark List There are no bookmarks yet.

All these tasks can get jumbled up and confusing when renovating your home. With all your ideas in hand, compile and organise them to express a mood or vibe that resonates with you. Each room can have its own unique vibe.
Nevertheless, open spaces such as the living room and dining room are usually joined as one space rooms without doors.
In this case, both areas need to be united as one concept or one mood. Currently, a popular design trend for home spaces is the Scandinavian style, where light color wood furniture is matched with soft or pastel colours and soft furnishing. Do what you like and is most comfortable with. You can choose any colour to give off your ideal impression or mood to your room, however, Dr. Eric advises against using dark colours.
This is because dark walls make the room feel cramped which can be unsettling and uncomfortable. However, if you want to increase the depth of a small room, Dr. Eric recommends painting a feature wall with a darker tone of your chosen colour to enhance the visual depth for the room. If you are following a specific design trend or style, you need to match your colours accordingly. For example, muted colours work best with the Scandinavian style.
With your chosen muted colour, paint your feature wall with a darker shade while using a lighter shade to paint the rest of the walls. A feature wall is the first wall you see when you enter a room. Hence, it needs to make a grand impression. The most subtle and natural way to do it is to paint the feature wall with a darker tone of your chosen colour.
You can also get creative with a feature wall by adding texture with tiles, geometric wall art or using patterned wallpaper. If you are feeling adventurous, you can feature a wall painting or use another colour outside of your colour palette to make your feature wall the highlight of your room.
You can also add wall decors on a feature wall such as paintings, and family photos. This is also the wall where most of your furniture will be placed against. As for the surrounding walls, they should match and support the feature walls with either a beige or neutral colour.
They can also use pastel colours or a lighter tint of your chosen colour. Once you have made a list of furniture you need for your living space, choose the right furniture that matches your interior style and work within your budget.
Use warm lighting to create ambience and use daylighting as tasking light. Warm lights gives off a welcoming, relaxing tone that is more suited for leisure while daylighting provides clear lighting most suited for office or working environments. When it comes to using multiple light sources, always use ceiling light pendant light as the main light source and use table light or floor light as the supporting light source.
You should also make use of the natural lighting from your window. Place supporting lights at the corner of the room to gain more soft light reflection from ceiling and walls.
This includes pillows, curtains, linens, bath towels, bedspreads and anything that is made of cloth or linen. Like furniture, the designs of your soft furnishing should support both your lifestyle and the overall vibe of our living area. Always refer to the room color scheme when selecting the color for the soft furnishing.
When it comes to decorative accessories, Dr. Eric prefers using big or oversized decorative accessories to create visual impact. These are spots people will notice when they enter your home. However, if you do decide to use small accessories, they should be grouped together on display to create a greater visual impact. To bring life into the house, add something that gives the house a refreshing vibe such as fresh flowers and potted plants.
